Teaching Associate and Lab Supervisor

Purpose:
The Department of Chemistry at the University of Maine (Orono, ME) invites applications for a Teaching Associate and Lab Supervisor position to begin on or about January 1, 2018. This is a full-time, 12-month position to work as a chemistry laboratory supervisor and instructor, primarily in the organic chemistry program, but in other introductory chemistry courses as needed. The position is ongoing, subject to satisfactory performance. The successful candidate is expected to supervise undergraduate and graduate student laboratory assistants during day and/or evening sessions, to undertake or supervise preparations and cleanup of laboratory experiments, and to teach a limited number of laboratory sections. The successful candidate is also expected to work with a team that includes faculty and staff in the Chemistry Department. Preference will be given to candidates with previous laboratory managerial experience. Typical hiring range for this position is $40,000 to $47,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications:
The position requires a master's degree in chemistry or a closely related discipline with relevant experience, or a BS in chemistry with extensive relevant experience, by date of hire.
The Department of Chemistry (http://www.umaine.edu/chemistry) offers the BA, BS, MS, and PhD degrees in chemistry with American Chemical Society certification for the BS. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
