Assistant or Associate Professor of Accounting

Purpose:
The Maine Business School at the University of Maine invites applications for a tenure track, academic-year Assistant or Associate Professor of Accounting to begin Fall 2018. Our primary teaching need is in Financial accounting at the intermediate and advanced levels. A secondary specialty in Governmental/NFP or Auditing/Assurance would be desirable.
The MBS offers a B.S. degree in Business Administration with majors in accounting, finance, management, and marketing, as well as concentrations in international business, entrepreneurship, and management information systems. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The standard teaching load per semester for tenure-track faculty is two or three classes with no more than two preparations per semester.
Candidates may be required to teach using distance delivery technology and should foster collaborative relationships with the business community.
New faculty are required to establish a research program leading to publications in refereed journals in their area of expertise.
Limited service to the school or university is expected while working toward tenure.
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications:
Teaching Principles of Accounting classes may be required.
The successful candidate is required to have a terminal degree by date of hire, preferably Ph.D. in Accounting from an AACSB-accredited program.
Demonstrated evidence of high-quality teaching ability.
Demonstrated ability to engage in quality research leading to publications in peer-reviewed journals in accounting.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
Candidates with a CPA are preferred.
Appropriate background checks are required.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
