Assistant Director of Compliance

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Monitor playing and practice seasons to ensure compliance with countable athletically related activity regulations.

  • Monitor recruiting activities such as countable contacts, phone calls and evaluations.

  • Monitor official and unofficial visit process.

  • Monitor all institutional camps and clinic information and advertisement, as well as coach participation in non-institutional camps and clinics.

  • Monitor all complimentary admissions involving prospects, student-athletes and staff.

  • Monitor and enforce student-athlete employment regulations.

  • Facilitate the NCAA Student Assistance Fund; evaluate applications and award aid.

  • Act as a liaison for the Athletic Department with Housing Services and Dining Services.

  • Oversee summer school application and approval process.

  • Submit medical hardship and medical absence waivers with appropriate conference offices.

  • Work with coaches and staff members to ensure University policies and procedures regarding student-athletes are followed.

  • Respond to questions regarding NCAA rules presented by student-athletes, coaches and staff members.

  • Assist in the development and presentation of rules education material.

  • Assist in the modification and development of department policies and procedures.

  • Assist with all NCAA, conference and institutional reports.

  • Assist with the management of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee as necessary.

  • Assist with various tasks assigned by the Director of Compliance.
    Qualifications

  • Bachelor?s Degree required, Master?s Degree preferred in sport management, education or a related field.

  • A minimum of one-year compliance-related experience working at a Division I NCAA institution, conference office or national office. Internships and/or graduate assistantships will be considered.

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Working knowledge of NCAA rules and familiarity with the NCAA?s Compliance Assistant, Legislative Services Database applications and ARMS Software.

  • Familiarity with Title IX as it impacts athletic programs and a demonstrated commitment to gender equity and diversity in collegiate athletics required.

  • Experience in preparing and summarizing reports required.

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and other related software that allows for the efficient and effective preparation of reports preferred.

  • Ability to travel, normally requiring a valid driver?s license.




Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
