Purpose :
Full-time, temporary position, 40 hours per week, 5 days per week. Daily work hours are Sunday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday 9:30 to 6:00 p.m, Tuesday through Thursday 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. This position pays $13.41/hour. The Food Service Technician CL2 performs a variety of tasks in a food service operation related to the coordination, preparation and delivery of food and dining services to University students, staff, faculty and the general public.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
Employee prepares complex menu items; measures, bakes, and delivers baked goods to campus locations; maintains records of food and equipment inventories;
Determines and orders supplies;
Coordinates food services activities to have meals and venues prepared at scheduled times;
Cleans stocks and maintains customer service areas including counters, equipment, tables and general work area; prepares and displays food items using necessary food service equipment;
Completes baked goods;
Replenishes and occasionally inventories foodstuffs and supplies in service and customer areas and for catered functions; sets up and tears down serving venues;
Maintains the customer service and quality standards set forth by the department; interacts and serves the customer demonstrating positive customer service skills;
May supervise and direct student employees;
Assists with production records, ordering and inventory;
Responsible for proper practice of safety and sanitation techniques using ServSafe procedures; and
Prepares proper documentation according to HACCP guidelines from food preparation to storage; uses a computer for recording daily waste and basic product inventory.
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications :
Knowledge of and experience in food service required
Knowledge of menu planning desired;
Demonstrated customer service principles and experience providing exemplary customer service;
Knowledge of basic computer skills;
Proven organization skills;
Attention to detail along with experience managing multiple tasks a must;
Demonstrated oral and written communications skills necessary, to communicate with the staff, public and all levels of the campus community;
Position requires understanding labels and a desire to gain a working knowledge of safety and sanitation practices;
Must work effectively and cooperatively with other members of the Dining Services team, UMaine administration, the campus community, and other external clients and customers and
Develop and maintain professional relationships that reflect courtesy, civility, and mutual respect.
Position typically requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to drive normally requiring a valid Maine driver's license preferred.
